Big man DJ Burns (23), who showed impressive performance on the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) stage, will join professional basketball team Goyang Sono.

On the 14th, Sono announced, "We are terminating the contract with Janelle Stokes and recruiting Burns, who played in the NBA Summer League."

Sono tried to bring in Stokes, who played in the NBA and the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), to have him take charge of the goal. However, when Stokes postponed his arrival schedule from the end of August and did not join the training camp in Taipei, Taiwan, he gave up on accompanying him.

As Stokes kept postponing his joining date, Sono prepared for an emergency by forming a list of candidates to sign as new foreign players and looking for suitable candidates.

Burns, whose strong point is his impressive physique of 204 cm and 125 kg, was actually a player that Sono had been trying to recruit for some time.

Although the will to challenge the NBA was strong and the contract had not been concluded previously, the signing of Burns was a blessing when Stokes cut off contact.

Burns, who played for North Carolina State, averaged 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists in about 28 minutes per game in this year's NCAA Tournament.

Burns' team, which entered the tournament as the 11th seed, overturned the evaluation that it was a weak team and achieved the feat of advancing to the semifinals.

A Sono official said, "Burns, who just graduated from college, is an 추천 energetic rookie who is going straight to challenge himself in an overseas league. He has excellent basketball sense and basketball intelligence, and he has the qualities to quickly adapt to the KBL."

Burns will be joined by veteran center Allen Williams, who has played 67 games in the NBA, to cover the paint for Sono.

Coach Seung-gi Kim, who has focused on perimeter offense due to a lack of big men and forwards, is expected to place considerable emphasis on offense under the basket with Williams and Burns at the forefront in the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

Burns will join the team in Taipei, the training camp, on the 15th and work with his teammates for the first time.
